Title: The King

Author: Tiffany Reisz

Date of Publication: November 25, 2014

Summary: Cunning. Sex. Pure nerve. Only this potent threesome can raise him to his rightful place as ruler of Manhattan’s kink kingdom.

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side—handsomely paid in both bills and blackmail fodder—Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive apathy—only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. A man he can never have, but in whose hands Kingsley is reborn to attain even greater heights of sin. He plans to open the ultimate BDSM club: a dungeon playground for New York’s A-list that’ll change the scene forever.

The club becomes Kingsley’s obsession—and he’s enlisted some tough-as-nails help. His new assistant Sam is smart, secretive and totally immune to seduction (by men, at least). She and Kingsley make a wicked team. Still, their combined—and considerable—expertise in domination can’t subdue the man who would kill their dream. The enigmatic Reverend Fuller won’t rest until King’s dream is destroyed. It’s one man’s sacred mission against another’s….

Tiffany Reisz is the author of the internationally bestselling and award-winning Original Sinners series for Mira Books (Harlequin/Mills & Boon). Tiffany’s books inhabit a sexy shadowy world where romance, erotica and literature meet and do immoral and possibly illegal things to each other. Q/A with Tiffany

– Do you have a favorite book or author you like to recommend? Do you have a comfort read?

I have a set of books I regularly recommend to people. Want to read amazing literature? Read my favorite novel of all time All the King’s Men by Kentucky author Robert Penn Warren. Want to read the most moving love story I’ve ever read? Read The Vintner’s Luck by Elizabeth Knox. My comfort reads are Sherlock Holmes short stories and Agatha Christie’s Poirot novels.

– What is your guilty pleasure?

I’d need to feel guilt to have a guilty pleasure. Buying office supplies I don’t need is probably the closest I get to a guilty pleasure. I buy them and think about all the people out there who don’t have awesome office supplies like I do and I feel bad for them.

– Favorite Meal?

Coffee and an ice cream sandwich is my version of a “Power Lunch.” The combination of tastes is glorious.

– If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?

My non-writer dream job is train engineer (what? I like trains). My realistic non-writer job would be working in a bookstore. That’s what I was doing when I started my writing career.

Excerpt :

“How much trouble am I in for getting out of the car without permission?” Kingsley asked.

“None,” Søren said, and Kingsley was wildly disappointed. “Let’s go. We can make it back to school by tonight.”

Kingsley followed him back to the car. The driver opened the door for them. When they were alone again, Kingsley said, “Or…”

“Or what?” Søren demanded.

“Or we could find a hotel and fuck in a real bed for once.”

“We’re not on a date. And here I was wondering where the real Kingsley had gone.”

“What do you mean?” he asked as the driver opened the car door for them. He slipped inside and Søren followed. They were on the road again before Søren answered.

“When you were with Claire—I wasn’t sure you were the same Kingsley I know and barely tolerate.”

“Why? Because I like kids?”

“You were good with her.”

“Kids are fun,” he said. What else was there to say?

“I never considered you would like children.”

“Well…I do. So what?”

“Nothing,” Søren said, laughing to himself. “Nothing at all.”

“I know you see me as some kind of pervert,” Kingsley said. “But believe or not, I am a human being. Yes, I like kids. I might want kids someday. I don’t have much of a family anymore. If I want a family I’ll have to make my own. Sometimes I have thoughts that don’t have anything to do with sex. I’m not just your toy, you know. I have feelings and—”

His impassioned “I have feelings” speech ended abruptly when Søren grabbed him hard by the back of the hair and brought his mouth down in a brutal kiss. Kingsley almost pulled away so he could finish his tirade before realizing he wanted the kiss so much more than the fight.

Kingsley returned the kiss with equal and greater passion. Søren yanked Kingsley’s jacket off him and threw it on the floorboard. Kingsley pulled his own shirt off and rolled on to his back on the bench seat. He’d remember the sensation of leather on his bare back all his life.

“Have you ever had sex in the back of a Rolls Royce?” Kingsley asked, trying not to rip Søren’s shirt in his rush to unbutton it. He needed Søren’s skin on his skin right now.

“No,” Søren said. “But ask me that question again in an hour.”

Before Kingsley could respond to that, Søren grabbed his wrists, pinned them over Kingsley’s head and kissed him again—deeper, slower, but no less punitive. Kingsley groaned, and Søren slapped a hand over his mouth.

“Quiet,” Søren said into Kingsley’s ear. “We aren’t alone, and I’ll gag you until you choke if I have to. Understand?”

Kingsley nodded against Søren’s hand. A curtain and partition separated them from the driver. He couldn’t see them, but if they were loud enough, he could hear them. He’d disobeyed Søren’s orders to stay in the car, he’d yelled at him and talked back. He was going to get it this time.

Good.

Søren kissed him again. Kingsley kept his sounds of pleasure to a minimum even when Søren reached between their bodies, unzipped Kingsley’s pants, and stroked him hard. Every muscle in Kingsley’s stomach tightened. He sucked in his breath sharply from the shock of pleasure. It took every bit of self-control not to moan audibly.

“You like this?” Søren asked.

“God, yes, so much,” Kingsley said, lifting his hips against Søren’s hand. He spoke in French and English. He was about to lose control of more than his language skills if Søren didn’t stop touching him like that.

“I think you like it too much.” Søren rose up on his knees and looked down at Kingsley.

“I don’t. I really don’t. I like it exactly as much as you want me to.”

“You’re pathetic when you’re turned on.”

“I am so pathetic right now.”

Q&A With the Author of Court Cat Patrick

Title: Court

Author: Cat Patrick

Date of Publication: October 23rd 2014

 Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23377533-court

About Court:

For more than 300 years, a secret monarchy has survived and thrived within the borders of the US, hiding in plain sight as the state known as Wyoming. But when the king is shot and his seventeen-year-old son, Haakon McHale, is told he will take the throne, becoming the eleventh ruler of the Kingdom of Eurus, the community that’s survived for centuries is pushed to the limit. Told through four perspectives, Court transplants us to a world that looks like ours, but isn’t. Gwendolyn Rose, daughter of the Duke of Coal, is grudgingly betrothed to Haakon — and just wants a way out. Alexander Oxendine, son of the Duke of Wind and Haakon’s lifelong best friend, already grapples with internal struggles when he’s assigned to guard Haakon after the king dies. And commoner Mary Doyle finds whispers in the woods that may solve — or destroy — everything, depending on your bloodline.

Money. Love. Power. Community. What’s your motivation?

Q&A

Tell us about your first book. What would readers find different about the first one and your most recent published work?

Forgotten, is about a girl who remembers the future instead of the past. It’s a romance and a mystery and I still love my first book baby. What’s different about Court is that it’s a bigger world told from more perspectives. Ultimately, though, no matter the scale of the world, the most important thing in my books is the depth of the characters and relationships between them. I hope readers will find that even though Court is urban fantasy and on a larger scale, it’s still very “me.”

If you could trade places with anyone for just one day, who would you be?

Forgetting that I have a wild imagination and am now dreaming up scenarios where I get permanently stuck in someone else’s body, I’d choose someone with a very different life from mine for a new perspective, like Coco Chanel or the head of NASA or a plumber.

What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?

Shoes. Apparently, I’ll leave home without anything else. I found myself in line for a coffee this weekend without my wallet.

Favorite book, and why?

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, because it made the strange stories I’d wanted to write seem possible.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I feel like the red thread in all of my books is that people should be who they are and not who someone else wants them to be. Life is much more interesting that way.

Fading Light (Shadow Born #2) – Angela Dennis SPOTLIGHT / Q&A

813DamnRDxL._SL1500_

Title: Fading Light (Shadow Born #2)

Author: Angela Dennis

Release Date: 23/9/2014

SYNOPSIS – Her hundred-year penance lifted, Shadow Bearer Brenna Baudouin returns to the Earthly plane with her partner, Gray Warlow, to keep the peace between humans and supernatural creatures and to prevent another apocalyptic war from happening.

The attraction between them is nearing a critical point, but their checkered history has left Brenna unable to trust either her heart or her instincts.

It s chaotic business as usual until humans begin turning to statues of dust. There is no explanation, no sign of magical foul play or a biological toxin. The humans are convinced it s the work of a deviant supernatural faction, twisting the knife in the already tense relationship between their species. Brenna and Gray agree the deaths have a former comrade-turned-rogue stamped all over them.

In a race against time, they enlist the help of both friend and foe to save the human race and stop the impending civil war. Along the way, they are forced to come to terms with their past and decide, once and for all, whether they will come together or fall apart.

Q&A With Fading Light Author Angela Dennis

1.) Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I created a diverse cast of characters for this series because I wanted to celebrate the uniqueness that is inherent in every person. I think it’s really important to embrace our own individuality and learn who we really are, not who other people want us to be. We all deserve to be loved for ourselves.

2.) If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Wow. That’s a really hard question. I’m going to say no, because it would require me to rewrite the next book J

3.) What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing it to life?

Right now my life is full of challenges. Finding time to write is always my biggest struggle. We have a crazy household schedule. My husband and I both work full-time, plus he goes to school full-time and I write. We also have a toddler. Because of that, Fading Light was written in the wee hours of the night/morning while everyone else was asleep. A LOT of coffee was consumed to create this plot J

4.) What are your ambitions for your writing career?

It’s always been my dream to write full time. I love writing Urban Fantasy, and have a few more series ideas up my sleeve. I’m also hoping, if all goes well, I will be branching into Paranormal Romance. I’ve got a secret project in the works that I’m hoping to be able to announce soon.

5.) Which writers inspire you?

I cut my teeth on books by Victoria Holt and Dean Koontz, two authors who will always hold sway over the majority of my bookshelves. But it wasn’t until I found authors like Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne, and Ilona Andrews that I really knew what I wanted to write.

6.) What are you working on at the minute?

Right now I’m working on the third book in the Shadow Born series as well as another Shadow Born Novella.

7.) What’s it about?

I would love to tell you, but it’s a secret. Let’s just say the ramifications of what happens in Fading Light are far deadlier than anyone expected.

8.) What genre are your books?

Urban Fantasy, but with strong romantic elements.

9.) What draws you to this genre?

I love everything about it. It leaves the door wide open to explore so many possibilities, and I love possibilities.

10.) Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?

I do both. I have all of the books in the Shadow Born Series outlined, but I let myself veer off the beaten path as I write. I’ve found some of my best ideas come when I’m not confined to any one direction.

11.) How do you think you’ve evolved creatively?

That’s a hard question. My ideas and world building have definitely become darker and more complex, but I’m learning to temper that darkness with humor and sarcasm. There’s a character in Fading Light, Keegan, who is a perfect example of this. Sometimes, you’ve got to have a little comic relief.

12.) What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?

I think they’re both important. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, especially in regard to something as subjective as reading. I love to hear other people’s thoughts, both positive and negative. There’s always something to learn from them.

13.) If you could be any supernatural creature what would you be?

Honestly, it wouldn’t matter as long as they had the ability to travel through time. That’s my favorite “super power.”

14.) Do you have a zombie apocalypse kit?

No, but I totally need one.

15.) What would you have in yours?

A few spelled daggers, a shot gun, and some grenades.

Selene Michaels’ stay in Paris is only temporary. She shouldn’t get too attached to Remington and his son, Adrien. But what happens after that? Will she stay, or will his past destroy any chance with her?

Love is what remains after our reservations melt away; when we let our demons come out to play.

Selene knows it is just a matter of time before all hell breaks loose. Whoever is after them is after blood. Her blood. She should have cut ties with Remington the second she read that first letter, but that is no longer a choice. She has fallen too far, too hard, and she is in too deep, both emotionally and physically.

At times secrets unite, and sometimes they destroy lives. Will the secret that binds them be enough to break Selene and Remington, or will it mend shattered bonds and make them stronger?

HAVOC Excerpt

The past few months had been a blur of tireless workouts, to get back in shape to get back into modeling. If there was a city that’d make me forget the shit plaguing my life, Paris was it. I was here for work and pleasure, and I intended to take the pleasure part very seriously. The only thing clouding my bliss was right there in front of me—the receptionist currently tapping the polished counter of the Hotel L’Arc with his fingers.

I dropped my head in my hands, tired. I’d been waiting for Andrew—my contact with Sara Arden Modeling agency here in Paris—to call me back after having left several voice messages on his phone.

A soft, deep baritone on my right pulled me out of my thoughts. I lifted my head and turned around, momentarily forgetting that I didn’t have a room for the night as my gaze locked with the tall guy standing beside me, dressed in a black pea coat and jeans. Pain and something like devastation flashed in his eyes, before he quickly schooled his expression.

He was tall, with dark, slightly wavy hair that curled at the nape of his neck, high cheekbones, and a chiseled jaw covered in a light scruff. Dark eyebrows with equally long, spiky lashes fringed his emerald-green eyes, which were now fixed intensely on me, his expression unreadable. And finally, his lips—full but not overly so and wide with a touch of rosy pink that gave them a healthy look.

And he was still staring at me, his brow furrowed as though he were trying to figure out something. Or was it confusion?

My gaze moved away from his as I narrowed my eyes, taking in how his navy-blue blazer framed his broad shoulders and his blue jeans hugged his muscular thighs.

God, he was beautiful. And very scary. Why the hell was he staring at me like that?

Being a size-twelve model, I was used to people staring at me appreciatively. Or sometimes in veiled disgust. I saw none of that on this man’s face. Admittedly, not everyone was into full-bodied girls like me. Not knowing what was going on behind those green eyes was as disturbing as the weird pull I felt toward him. I’ve always heard people say how they meet someone, and right there the earth shifts around them or some gravitational shit. This wasn’t that kind of pull, but a primal awareness of two souls.

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…
